Daycare Canada
Daycare Centres offer full day programs and activities that are geared toward the developmental ages and stages of children 3 months – 12 years of age. Many daycare centres offer before and after school care for school-aged children.
Some operators even transport children to and home from school and a select number will also provide transportation to certain extracurricular offerings or sports programs. Some daycare centers are national or regional chains; some are privately owned. Be sure to check with your province to determine regulations, licensing or accreditation requirements. Please also be diligent about ensuring that any program you place your child in is licensed for the current year and that the teachers all meet the necessary requirements.

What are The Benefits of Daycare?

Many parents stress over the decision to send their child to daycare. However, the truth of the matter is that most children actually benefit from daycare and it helps to share these benefits with the parents. Below are just a few of the many benefits to enrolling your child into a quality childcare program.
Friends and Socialization Skills- Kids who attend daycare learn quickly how to assert themselves in a crowd, how to make friends, and how to socialize. Children learn how to share, compromise and problem solve. Sometimes this requires some teacher guidance but often children learn to resolve conflict on their own. This is an invaluable life skill that your child will learn to master at an early age helping him/her to become confident and self-assured.
School Preparedness- If you send your child to daycare then he/she will soon become accustomed to spending most of the day away from you and will really enjoy having his/her own friends. He/she will love coming home and sharing the days events with you and telling you all about new friends and activities. Children quickly learn to follow a routine and learn to adhere to rules and guidelines. This all sets the stage for life in elementary school and helps to make a seamless transition which in turn makes things a lot less stressful for you and your child.
Early Introduction to Academics- Children learn best through play and hands on experiences. Children will be exposed to pre-reading through letters, sounds, pictures, stories and learn early math concepts such as sorting, matching, sequencing etc. This is one of the best gifts you can give to your children. A strong foundation for reading and math will give your child an early advantage.
Variety – Daycare programs include a nice mix of activities during the day to teach different skills, such as singing, dancing, and storytelling. Many of the instructional projects are a good mix of left- and right-brain activities, usually made of simple objects like blocks or beans or vinyl letters for creativity, but presented in an organized, structured, and stimulating way. Field trips to local farms, police stations, fire departments and grocery stores are also included in the curriculum to enhance programs and add variety.
